What is the Difference Netween a Mortgage Lender and a Mortgage Broker?

A mortgage lender is an employee of a bank or credit union that works to sell loan products originated by their employer, the bank or credit union that they work for. They only have access to loans that originate from that one lending institution.

A mortgage broker is a person who does not work for a bank or other lending institution but rather is paid to bring borrowers and lenders together. This means they have access to programs originated by hundreds or thousands of lenders.
